love or lust

Scarlet Johansson has given an interview (link to see it in full) though i liked a question and answer, that i thought sums up love and lust quite nicely:

Q. In your opinion, what’s the difference between love and lust?

A: Lust is very selfish, and love is very selfless. You just think about the passion inside you, whereby with love you are really thinking about the other person.

Nicely put Miss Johansson!

The meaning of my name!

You know, browsing on google, you can find many things, and i became intrigued to find out what my first name actually means. So here it is, after a long search, i found some means, see if you agree ;): (and this is with regards to the sikh punjabi understanding).

Par = Supreme or penultimate or greatest of the great;
v = V stands for Vaheguru (which is punjabi is the 'great teacher' in relation to God)
inder = Inder is one of the many names for God (Indra).

Parvinder means Supreme God, (Supreme Indra). Or God of Gods. With Kaur then it's Supreme Godly Princess.

We learn something new every day ;)

The Four Agreements

I came across these four statments, and I wanted to share the link, and words:

1. Be Impeccable With Your WordSpeak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything PersonallyNothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you wonít be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make AssumptionsFind the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your BestYour best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

Brokeback Mountain

I didnt know what to expect from this movie, when I heard that it had been highlighted for oscars and many golden globe nominations, and yet I was intrigued, because I knew it was a storyline that was heavily in the 'news' because of the story featuring two cowboys with a strong gay sex scene.

But what i found was that the subtly doesnt lie in the fact that it is about that, but as the subtitle states "love is a force of nature" - and i read somewhere that it is "simply an ageless, timeless, heart warming and heart breaking love story" - I have to agree with that. By making it a story between two men, it defies many areas, like ethnicity and also for the 60's, in a time that was considered to be wrong for passion between men, the movie isnt simply about that, but actually manages to brigde, cultures, genders, and ethnicities, to show that life is all but about happiness.

I went away with the reminded that love and life are all but the same thing. Either one of them can vanish without warning, and its about holding on, holding on to what you believe in and love, and not being afraid, because, the worst thing in life is regret.

Definetly see this one, for it might even give you the courage to follow your heart, and the path that is lies with your happiness.
